CHEZ FERNAND

Thonon, France, 2011

'Chez Fernand' is a «bistrot de saison» meaning that you can have breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea and of course aperitif, all made from chosen ingredients, local and seasonal.
The place is located at the N°6 of the street in a small town on the Léman lake side commonly named 'le village'.
Together with the owners, we were inspired by the cult TV series «The Prisoner» to redecorate the restaurant while deviating from a traditional style. We’ve drawn a font based on the «Albertus» characters with more celtic details in order to get closer from the font in use on every signage and packages in the village’s set design. We played with color stripes contrasting with a warm and clear grey in order to reveal the wood parts and designed new lighting from some refurbished and genuine elements to keep a touch of classicism in this renewal.
